Revision Revitalization

I am nearly finished with Into the Shadows now, but for about the last month and a half, I took a break to do some revision on the first two-thirds of the draft.  I’d never done something like that before.  Usually, I like to wait until I’m done with my first draft before I go around tinkering with the ideas.

In a way, I think the experiment was useful.  On the one hand, waiting until I’m finished lets me see the whole picture.  However, taking a break from writing and revising what I had so far helped me to get refocused.  Now, I’m ready to keep writing!

Do any of you ever hit a point where you’re not sure what course to take for the rest of your novel?  What do you do about it?
