Now, I just need a “yellow brick road.”
So, some exciting news! I’m going to a writing conference in a couple of weeks now, and I’ve been trying to figure out what novel I’d like to “pitch.” After a lot of careful consideration, I’ve decided to pitch Exodus, a myth-style fantasy story of two young women. One is cursed by an angry goddess, and the other had an ill-fated romance with the son of the chief. Now, they’ve been exiled from their home. They’ve lived their whole lives in the protection of their village, and now they must fend for themselves against all the dangers of the jungle—cannibals, warring tribes, and vicious demons—as they forge their way toward a kingdom they’ve only heard of in tales. All the while, they attract the attention of a cunning god and a desperate king.
I’m pretty excited! Scared, too, but excited. At the very least, this should be interesting.
Wow, how exciting! Good luck. What resources have you used on how to pitch a novel? There are so many resources out there and I don’t know which is good and which ones aren’t.

The Loft, which is organizing the event, actually provided quite a bit of information about pitching for the attendees. A lot of things are very subjective to the particular agent/editor you’re pitching to, but they have some pretty good advice. I’ll provide links in an upcoming post!
